Performance Center [Premium Feature] - Demographics Dashboard Overview [MI and MO Only]

Available to schools in Michigan and Missouri, the demographics dashboard includes many of the standard fields measured at the local, state and national levels as a comparative to student performance and measures of academic success. In order for the Demographics dashboard to be displayed, the student enrollment file(s) must be uploaded into Epicenter. Please work with your Epicenter Support Specialist regarding loading the student demographic files to populate the Demographic charts in Performance Center. For each chart, there are options to download as an SVG and/or a CSV file by clicking on the Easy Export icon located in the upper right-hand corner of each chart.
The following provides descriptions for each of the features and graphs available within the Demographics dashboard.
●      School Selector
A school selector drop-down is available.  This allows filtering based on the selection of All Schools or an individual school.  By default, All Schools will be selected when first selecting the Demographics dashboard.

●      Term Selector Term Selector.png
A term drop-down is available.  This allows filtering by School Year and Collection Period.  The charts presented will be based on the selection of All Schools or an individual school and the term selected.

●      Number of Schools Reporting
When the All Schools option is selected, the percentage and number of schools reporting for the term selected will be displayed.  The possible number of schools reporting is based on the school being set up in School Center and having a School Code entered.  This allows the organization to know if the consolidated data from All Schools within their portfolio for the selected term does indeed include all of the schools.

●      Composite Resident District
This component identifies the resident district of the student population enrolled. This measure allows for the school and portfolio holder to assess the areas from which their unique populations of students are enrolling from.
*Note - the enrollment when uploading the Michigan MSDS files is based on Full Time Equivalent.  It can be calculated by summing up the three FTE fields (General FTE, Section 52 FTE and Section 53 FTE).
  • Enrollment by Year
This dashboard displays yearly enrollment trends, displaying dashboards for an individual school or an entire portfolio. This allows for graphically displayed trends in enrollment by the total number of students over a prescribed interval.  There will also be a comparison to the aggregate public enrollment data from the State if being loaded for your state.  If the State Data and School Data are the same, then only the School Data represented by the blue circle will be shown on the chart.

  • Enrollment Demographics
For each term selection, this dashboard identifies the common demographic reporting factors (free, reduced price, ESL, Special Education) in a given term. Each of the charts displays the demographic factors against total population allowing the school or portfolio holder to measure percentage and the total number of students in each of the subcategories measured.

  • Enrollment Duration (MI Only)
Measured against historical data and the enrollment date identified, the first chart displays the duration of enrollment for the total population of students. This measure is evaluated on an annual basis by unique identifying factors for each student.  The second enrollment duration chart shows enrollment by grade level.  This chart will show the number of students that are enrolled 0-2 Years or 3+ years for each grade level.  You can hover your mouse over each bar to see the student counts.
  • Ethnicity
This chart displays the ethnicity reported for each student enrolled for against the current enrollment file and the term in which it is loaded. When an individual school is selected, you will see the comparison of the percent of the school population to the portfolio’s average (which is the Epicenter portfolio of schools).  In addition, if aggregate state data is loaded for your state, you will also see a comparison to the state average percent. The ethnicity is measured against the national normed ethnicity reporting standards and codes.
